Hangarau-Technology

On fridays our class goes to Tamaki college to learn digital technology. Hangarau is the maori word for technology. When we are in class, we have to use the kiore and the papa patuhi to log on to the rorohiko. On the rorohiko we have to use the ipurangi to log into the pae tukutuku for digital Technology. Every week we access the maramataka to know what task we will do sometimes our teacher will send us messages on our imera. Sometimes our teacher will give use dojo points on her waea pukoro, or she might also use her waea pukoro to take photo of us working. At school and home some of us use the rorohiko ponaho to do our work.

Badminton Session

Today at 9:40 we had our last lesson with Robby(Our Coach)and what we did on the last day was we had a tournament for the whole session, what we did first was have a game of stuck in the mud to get ready for our badminton. After our game stuck in the mud we got in pairs my partner was Siosifa, we got our rackets,shuttles. When we got our rackets and shuttles we started to play badminton,It was fun, exciting, funny and i had a good time.   

Matariki Poem

On Tuesday a person called Darren came over to help us how to write a poem and he shared some of his poem and it sounded cool. It made me want to write one and I did, I had awesome writing a poem.

Matariki the 7 sisters,

brightly shining stars

A legendary celebration

being one big family

dancing, singing,a massive kai

Matariki feeling high spirited,

grateful, affected

by the 7 stars

whanau prepare the  hakari,

hangi, kai moana,

toe tapping, dancing

lively music

fun, laughter, great joy

Resizing Images

 Today I learnt about resizing images. Its is important because people might resize it wrong and it will look weird.

Long Bay Rocky Shores

Yesterday  Room 10 went to Long Bay. We went there in a bus and it took 1 hour to get long bay but we had fun talking to each other in the bus and have a sleep in the bus. When we got there we saw our instructors then we went and sat on the ground so that we can listen what our instructors say then they told us their names and there were 3 of them and 2 were a lady and one was a man but the names of the instructor are James, Laura and Morein. After We went with our instructor and our instructor was Laura.

Next what we did was go and find different kind of fish or animals in the sea. When we were looking for animals in the sea suddenly Jack fous aye kina then i saw another kina they were stuck in this small hole in the rocks but jack tried to get it out but could get it out but Laura said that “ if it stays there and you cant get it out. what you do is to not force it to come off because it might want to stay there” But then we had to go and put them back to them back to where we found it but we had fun looking at different and while we were walking back we saw a big jelly fish on the sand and it was very limy but we keep going back to have our lunch.

When we finished our lunch we had another lesson and we went and looked for what is biodiversity around the sea. When my group was looking for stuff that does not belong on the beach and in the sea. After my group found some rubbish but what we found was some plastic bottle cap and something  weird we found was a worm that came out of its shell and it looked plastic but it was hard but i thought it was plastic but we took it. Then we went back to show Laura our biodiversity equipment. Next when we got back we had a game that if we had anything from the book we get a point but it was a bit fun because we had cool stuff from the book but my group got some points but we had fun playing the game.After we had to sit down and go back to school and everyone had a fun time there and it was cool finding different creatures in the sea.

After Reading Managing Fisheries

In a small group of 2-3 students (from your reading group) read and discuss the following statement:

By the early 1980s, with dwindling inshore stocks and too many boats, the New Zealand fishing industry and the government realised that a new fisheries management was needed. The warning that ‘too many boats are chasing too few fish’ was being rephrased by one fisherman as, ‘too many boats chasing no fish.’

1. Are there too many boats? Yes Because they want to go to the sea and fish for more
2. Why are there 'no fish'?Because the fisherman catches a lot of fish.
3. What is or should be done about it? The should catch it but instead of eating it they should release it.

1. What is a Quota?A limited or fixed number or amount of people or things, in particular
2. Why the Quota Management System was needed?Released the new fisheries management was needed.
3. How it was implemented.They should only catch a few of fish and only catch 7 fish.
4. Who polices it?Its a Managing Fisheries Police.  
5. How are commercial quota is different from recreational quotas recreational quotas can’t sell their fish but commercial quotas can sell their fish.
